We are still deciding on colors for everything -- floor, walls, countertops, cabinets.... I want a plan of what is what BEFORE we actually buy/stain anything. I don't want to run into the problem of "What do we do now" because we didn't stop to consider what we want the overall space to look like, not just one part of one room.

FLOORS: Wood for the LR and DR and tile for the kitchen. For the floors, we're thinking of Brazilian Cherry, which looks like this photo. We love the reddish brown of the wood. It's sort of reasonably priced -- $4/sqft -- so initially we plan to put it down on the LR, DR, stairs from foyer to LR, the main stairs and upstairs hallway. Eventually, all the bedrooms upstairs will get hardwoods too. In the mancave, we'll probably switch out the white carpet for something warmer, some kind of pattern w/ yellows and browns? We could use hardwood I guess, but it's on a concrete slab, so the carpeting will be nicer in the wintertime. Depends on what Matt wants more in the end -- as it's the "Man Cave".
